NW_SB_blogI had the pleasure of photographing Will and Nadia’s big day on Saturday and what a day it was!  They chose to host their wedding in the gardens of the groom’s Mum’s house in the lovely village of Allerthorpe, about 20 minutes from York.  Will and Nadia were married in the village church and held their wedding breakfast in a Papakata Tipee – if you havn’t seen these amazing wedding tents before, please check out the link – they are simply amazing!

Papakata-Wedding-Photography_0001It was an incredibly hot, muggy day and we all melted during the preparations in the morning but just before heading to church, the heavens opened and cooled things down – albeit only slightly!  Nadia and her 6 bridesmaids are all so incredibly close and it was a real joy to photograph them helping each other get ready.  The bride was totally stunning in her gown and I felt blessed to be photographing such lovely people.  The church ceremony was an intimate affair, Revd Shelagh was a total legend!

Papakata-Wedding-Photography_0002Will and Nadia headed back to the wedding reception on the back of a golf buggy whilst the guests ambled their way to the Tipee.  The reception was a laid back affair, speeches were heartfelt, touching and completely personal.  The champagne flowed as did the amazing food laid on by Laveracks of Holme Upon Spalding Moor – they put on an amazing spread!

The wedding breakfast flowed straight into the night do and I have to say, the DJ was outstanding – mainly because he played 70’s/Early 80s disco and R&B – totally my bag and I certainly didn’t want to leave when the party got into full swing!  Will and Nadia’s first dance lead to a jam packed dance floor and I’m sure there wasn’t any room to move for the rest of the night!

The bride and Groom are heading to Paris for their honeymoon and I’m sure they’ll have an amazing time.  They have been together since they were 14 and I have to say, they have one of the most genuine love I  have come across, supported by their family and friends I’m sure there will be a lifetime of happiness for them to share!
