Saturday just passed was magical for so many reasons. 1) It was the hottest day of the year so far 2) Hull City AFC played a heartfelt game in their very first FA Cup final – but clearly the most magical of all occurrences was the wedding of Kerry and Jo! I knew it was going to be a special day and was really looking forward to capturing some amazing memories. I’ve put together a series of 3 panels here so you can see the evolution of the day from early preps with the groom through to their epic fireworks display to cap the night off.
The wedding was held at The Country Park Inn on Hessle Foreshore – an extremely popular venue that was sadly flooded by the River Humber just before Christmas last year. The Inn re-opened just a few weeks ago and like a phoenix from the ashes, has risen above the floods with a total refurb. The venue looks fantastic – I’ve shot lots of weddings at the ‘CPI’ and I can honestly say I felt like I was in a truly brand new place. The décor, furniture, features and bar are all state of the art, very contemporary and has a very high-end feel to it. I’m really looking forward to shooting more weddings with Zoe, Tom and their team down by the River.
As a local of the Humber area, I know how connected the people of the East Riding are with the river and the Humber Bridge and the opportunities for photos on the foreshore beach with the bridge in the background are endless.
Kerry and Jo really went to town on their special day. Their choice of venue styling through Linda Reed at A Perfect Wedding was really exquisite. The flowers were gorgeous, Kerry’s gown was to die for and everything meshed together in such a lovely way.
The atmosphere throughout the day was one of real happiness, the mood was heightened by the showing of the football game during the wedding breakfast – even though the Tigers finally succumbed to Arsenal’s game, everybody agreed they had played a blinder of a game and the celebrations flowed into the evening reception with no break!
As the sun started to set, we took the opportunity to go for a second ‘Penny Drop’ session and created some really lovely lit portraits of this fun loving couple and then finally sealed the day of photography with a stunning fireworks display by The Fireworkers – Jo was completely unaware that Kerry had organised the display and we had to use the excuse of an electrical failure to clear the dance floor and get all the guests outside.
All in all, this was such a great wedding and I wish Jo and Kerry all the very best for their future together.
