This weekend was special – this weekend was a bank holiday and for the first time since records began, it was not wet, miserable and full of ‘British Disappointment’! no, far from it – this weekend was the stuff of legends – quite literally! The UK recorded it’s warmest May Bank holiday since the break was introduced in the 70’s and Hannah and I were delighted to spend the Sunday with John and Nikki as they celebrated their wedding at the fab Dunedin Country House in Patrington as their Yorkshire Wedding Photographer.
I met Nikki and John back in 2016 at a wedding fayre and for them and us it was ‘love at first sight’. We clicked straight away and I knew that we would create a super relationship and one that would create the absolutely perfect atmosphere for brilliance on their wedding day – I was not wrong!
John and Nikki totally invested into the Insight ‘mindset’ straight off the bat and were a total pleasure to work with both before, during and after their special day.
For us, it was a our first visit to Dunedin House and I have to say, it scored so highly. Helen and her team provided such a lovely setting and service for all of our couple’s guests, I was really blown away by the overall standard of hospitality – nothing was too much trouble and even us ‘togs were given a beautifully laid out table for our vittles whilst the guests were served their wedding breakfast – that very rarely happens but we were made to feel very special and it was much appreciated.
The whole day flowed with such finesses and ease – from John’s preps in the morning (even if Roger did saunter over an hour late like a total rock star!) through to the girls’ lovely intimate preps through at Dunedin’s exceptionally appointed accommodation – everything just seemed to click.
The weather helped to create a beautiful overall feel and once the business end of things had been taken care of, John and Nikki’s guests enjoyed fizz on the lawn whilst we quickly took care of the family photos. We like to get this part of the day done and dusted quickly but with as much fun and energy as we can so everyone feels included – it really matters to our clients.
The grounds of the house gave me so many opportunities for photography and we explored some super looks for our gorgeous couple, ‘Insight 1’ – our 4k drone – came out to shoot some aerial perspectives which turned out really great. As licensed and insured drone pilots, we will always put our ‘bird’ up at weddings if the weather and environment permits.
As the evening drew in, one of the couple’s friends took to the mic to perform a vocal set which was absolutely amazing as the singer performs in London’s Westend and blew the roof off! We left well into the party after the cake had been cut and the dance floor was well and truly rammed.
We loved every minute of Nikki and Jon’s wedding at Dunedin Country House, we wish our happy couple all the very best for their married life and we can’t wait to visit this fabulous venue again soon – we’re so happy they chose us as their Yorkshire Wedding Photographer.
