Every wedding is a unique experience and shooting weddings is something I find incredibly rewarding – it’s lovely getting to know couples and share in the beauty of their love story. Things get even more fun when there are different themes or twists in each celebration, something which I was lucky enough to experience at Nick and Carolyn’s Howsham Hall wedding. This was one of those special days that stood out from the rest as it actually was a circus—complete with magicians, stilt walkers and acrobats! It was so unique and such an amazing opportunity for me as a wedding photographer to capture pieces of their special day through my lens.
Nick and Carolyn’s Howsham Hall Wedding
The photography kicked off with the lovely Nick and Carolyn getting ready. I was immediately struck by how amazing they both looked. The energy was truly wonderful, and it seemed like she was just glowing in her stunning dress. I also had the opportunity to take a few portraits of Nick with his wedding party, including his son Jake. It really marked a beautiful beginning to their big day.
The massive country house (more like a castle!) of Howsham Hall in North Yorkshire was the perfect setting for Nick and Carolyn’s wedding. This majestic, historic venue with breathtaking grounds and stunning architecture is every bit as romantic as it sounds. The bride was given away by her brother Kelvin. It was so special seeing the couple beaming as they exchanged their heartfelt vows in front of all their friends and family who had gathered to celebrate their union. The bride is from Singapore and hadn’t seen her family since before the pandemic, so her wedding day was a massive reunion. Everyone felt so blessed to witness this ‘love story’ come full circle on their special day, as they would start a new chapter together.
Nick and Carolyn’s love was enchanting. As the newlywed couple posed for portraits on the venue’s stunning grounds, they radiated so much love and happiness—it truly felt like stepping into a fairytale. Not only were my bride and groom glowing but their amazing wedding party also added to the beauty – Ann, the groom’s mother, Nick, his best man along with Carolyn’s maids of honour, Joanna and Per-li. It was lovely to watch the couple surrounded by so much love on this beautiful day.
Carloyn and Nick’s wedding was magical, literally! After their gorgeous ceremony, the couple threw the most wonderful circus-themed party. The guests were treated to a show that could rival any top-notch circus. Stilt walkers wowed with their astounding feats while magicians performed truly mystifying illusions. African acrobats put on an incredible performance that left everyone ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the beauty and strength that was displayed. It was such an incredible event to behold. Everyone was filled with delight as each entertaining visual treat captivated the audience and brought more life to the lovely couple’s big day celebrations.
