This month, we talk to Victoria Farr of – one of regions very best specialist Wedding Make Up & Hair Artists. We work with Vicki on a regular basis – not only bumping into her at lots of weddings, but we also collaborate with her for portfolio and model work. Her calm nature, amazing attention to detail and overall style make her the perfect choice if you are looking for somebody to guide you through the myriad of style choices in the run up to your big day. We asked Vicki to share a recent story with our readers that would illuminate on her unique way of working and here it is…
I felt deeply inspired to share with you my experience of a recent wedding that took place at the stunning KP Club in Pocklington
Being freelance, I have the luxury of being able to travel to both amazing venues and welcoming family homes. I find this works perfectly as the bride can relax with your bridal party in the surroundings of their choice and enjoy every part of your wedding day.
When I talk to my brides, either at the initial booking stage or at the consultation, more often than not, they have no set ideas on how they would like to have their hair or make up or what accessories to have. I always suggest looking on the internet, magazines and Pinterest for ideas of what you like and don’t like so we can work together on how these will work with your overall wedding day look.
Prior to meeting Zoe, she had already carried out some research on ideas for hair styles and at the consultation we discussed in detail her desired look which incorporates the style of wedding gown and accessories to ensure the final style was exactly Zoe’s vision. This also applied to make up and we took the time to assess her skin type and how she would like to look on her wedding day. For my clients, I do not highlight a timescale for the consultation, which gives us the flexibility to try different looks should you wish. During this consultation and due to my qualifications, I am able to provide advice and guidance on how to get your hair and skin in tip top condition for the big day.
On the day, I had given Zoe a timeline of the morning, so everyone knew what time they are to be with me, therefore, giving plenty of time to shower and have breakfast before we start. I always allow extra time at the end, for any last minute touch ups and pictures to be taken with your photographer.
I have been extremely fortunate to have built up great relationships with several wedding photographers which has allowed me to gain experience on ensuring you receive the most from your ‘getting ready’ pictures.
Having this extra time was fortunate as I was able to offer some last minute ‘hair help’ for one of the flower girls, which left her smiling ready for the big day ahead.
Needless to say when I left Zoe as she was waiting to meet her groom, she was utterly radiant with the most beautiful smile. For me the love and passion for the job is seeing you at this very moment when everything comes together….and it’s an absolute privilege!
We think Vicki is Fab, don’t hesitate to get in touch with her through her website on www.victoriafarr.co.uk she’d love to have a natter about YOUR wedding plans!
