Last weekend saw Team Insight over at The Hallmark Hotel, North Ferriby photographing the wedding of Becky and Jason.  The weather was gorgeous, the light was perfect – everything was set for a truly magical day.  I started preps with the boys over at The Hallmark and once we’d wrestled with cravats and button hole flowers (expertly crafted by Sarah Nicholson at Floral Lounge) we got the boys out of the stifling heat of the room and headed out for some cool boys shots.  I managed to find some different angles for the boys and a spot which I’ve never used before so really excited to share those.

Grooms_Preparations_Hallmerk_HotelOnce we’d finished with the boys, I headed over to where the Bridal preps where happening and found the bride doing something quite strange….eating breakfast!  it’s quite unusual for brides to eat on the morning of their wedding but Becky and her girls were calm, collected and chowing down on croissant!  One of the things I feel I’m very strong at when it comes to my service is helping couples plan and organise their big day, Becky knew exactly how much time she had to get ready and to chill!  The Bridesmaids were so great and the bridal preps in general were a joy to photograph.  Once Becky was ready, I spent 15 minutes photographing her before bringing in her Mum and girls – I couldn’t take a bad picture – Becky glowed and had such a lovely presence.

I headed off to St Martins Church to photograph the pre-amble to the ceremony and to wait for the arrival of Becky in a classic Beauford.  I’d never photographed at this church before but I was made to feel so welcome by Vicar Simon Elliot.  Jason’s face was such a picture as Becki walked towards him at the front of the church – it’s witnessing and capturing moments like this that leads me to believe I really do have the best job in the world!  We stopped at The Humber Foreshore on our way back to the hotel and got some great shots with the car and the iconic bridge.

After taking care of the formal group shots in the grounds of the Hallmark, the bride and groom joined their guests in the Merlot Suite for their wedding breakfast.  Speeches came first and each one being delivered straight from the heart – not a dry eye in the house!  At one point during the groom’s speech, I looked up from my camera and must have witnessed at least 75% of the guests dabbing tears away!  The Hallmark is a fab venue for couples that love a contemporary feel in their images and due to Mother Nature’s cooperation, we were able to explore lots of different looks both inside and out.

Heading into the night do, the dancing started early and the party was off to a great start.  The bride and groom had kept a secret from all of the guests and at 10.15 we led everybody outside for a fantastic fireworks display put on by The Fireworkers – the experts in pyrotechnical displays in the Yorkshire area for sure.  We captured some lovely images of the display and then played with sparklers to get some truly memorable  shots.  Getting shots like this requires a really good understanding of photographic technique and also good timing!

This was one of my fave weddings for a long time, it had all of the elements that go into a ‘great do’!  If you would like to find out more about how I help my clients achieve wedding photography results like these, head over to my Insight Photography website and also check out recent sneaky peeks on my Insight Photography Facebook Page.
