Yorkshire Wedding Photography at Wood Hall, Wetherby – Last weekend, Hannah and I packed our bags and readied our passports for inspection as we travelled out to West Yorkshire to photograph Liz and Phil’s big day and what a corker it was!
It was our first time at Wood Hall Hotel, if you’ve been there you’ll know how lovely it is and the approach road as you swing around the bend is a great way to see it for the first time. We arrived early to cover Phil’s preparations with his Best Man and Usher. The groom needed a little help getting organised – by his own admission, his wife to be was in the hot seat when it came to logistics but we soon got him sorted and had a great time helping him get ready. Phil’s style choices were very cool and the shade of orange he chose for his accessories was super vibrant.
We left Phil to write his speech (he literally hadn’t started it!) and headed over to photograph Liz getting ready with her girls. We already knew half of the bridesmaids team having photographed one of their weddings last year so we were straight into the laughs and giggles and down to business! Liz’s gown was such a beauty – her jewellery simple and elegant and with flowers created by Sarah Nicholson at The Floral Lounge – her whole presence was simply gorgeous.
Champagne flowed and we created some lovely portraits of the girls before Dad arrived and it was time to get married! The ceremony was conducted in a really light hearted way with 2 very personal readings – 1 taken directly from the Lyrics of an Artic Monkeys track – very original!
Once the register was signed, the bride and groom headed out into the Wood Hall Hotel gardens as man and wife and greeted their guests. The Italian style terraced gardens made an awesome setting for photos and with a yellow rape seed field blooming off in the distance, I was a very happy photographer. Group shots finished, Liz, Phil and I headed for a walk around the grounds before their wedding breakfast was served which gave them that ‘moment’ when the penny drops and they realise ‘WOW – we just got married’!
Speeches were hilarious – the Bride’s father being from the North East had a wickedly sharp sense of humour and the groom is definitely one of the driest guys I’ve met – right up my street and he had everyone in stitches. The best man followed up with a razor sharp delivery of comedy and heartfelt stories.
The evening do melded seamlessly from the day and the bride and groom were greeted by lots of extra guests who made the trek across the counties to party the night away to a fab, energetic band whose name completely evades me – but believe me, they were awesome and from Doncaster!
All in all, another fab wedding day and we wish Liz and Phil all the very best for their married life together – they are enjoying their honeymoon in Dubai as we speak and I look forward to seeing them on their return to share their story with them in pictures.
